About Mallika
Madhubani & Mithila artist · Dubai, UAE
My artistic journey found its true direction at Kaladhwani under the mentorship of Smriti Ma'am and Sudip Sir. While I was initially drawn to Madhubani art for its vibrant colours and intricate motifs, their guidance helped me discover its deeper cultural, spiritual, and storytelling traditions. Through my training, I explored the rich heritage of Mithila art, drawing inspiration from themes such as Kohbar, the Tree of Life, Shiva-Shakti, Goddess Shashthi, and the natural world. Today, my work combines traditional Madhubani elements with themes of women's empowerment, harmony with nature, spirituality, and cultural heritage.
Working from her studio in Dubai, Mallika brings the centuries-old visual language of Mithila, with its fish and lotus motifs, its dense Kachni linework, and its sacred Kohbar compositions, into dialogue with the questions that move her today: the dignity and empowerment of women, a reverence for the natural world, and the quiet persistence of cultural memory across borders.
